Carbon, the New York-based visual effects and design studio, announces the opening of their Los Angeles office helmed by Executive Producer Matt Thunell and Creative Director Chris Noellert. EP Matt Thunell will lead the creative studio with over a decade of experience at prominent studios and visual effects facilities on the West Coast. He joins the Carbon LA from Motion Theory/Mirada, where as Senior Producer he produced projects for directors and executives such as Mathew Cullen, Jon Favreau, Javier Jimenez, John Fragomeni, Jeff Scruton, and Grady Hall; and top agencies and clients including McGarryBowen, The Martin Agency, Energy BBDO, and Disney/Pixar. CD Chris Noellert is a diverse visual effects artist with experience in both the US and European markets. Noellert joins Carbon LA from Motion Theory/Mirada, where he led projects like Grady Hall’s Target Summer campaign, Jon Favreau’s Wrigley 5 Gum, and most recently Mathew Cullen’s HP campaign, as Senior Flame Artist. Prior to that time, Noellert spent 12 years in Sweden helping to open and establish The Chimney Pot brand in Stockholm, Warsaw and Norway before eventually opening his own studio, Syndicate Ent, in 2000.
